When we are sick, with flu or mental illness, we want to be better than we are. If we are barely singing it can be enticing to take a pill that brings the noise. This is what our psychiatric meds do. They dominate our internal music. Who would want their molecular music, a foundation of our health, given over to a loud chemical? If we are told we are broken and this pill will fix us then it is an understandable decision made from desperation.
The science behind why medication is so dominating to our receptors is simple and it helps us understand our true nature.
1) They are isolates. Most medications are based on an isolated piece of a naturally occurring family of molecules. For example, sodium divalporex acid (Depakate) is modeled after valporic acid which is a constituent of Valerian root. It is only one piece of Valerian root. Without the other parts of Valerian root, valporic acid is not self-balancing but antagonistic overtime. Similarly, doctors know that raw egg whites cause biotin deficiency. They isolated and studied them separately. However, when consumed with raw egg yolks, which are overly high in biotin, then the whole egg is self-balancing.
2) Medications, because they are synthetic, are a 50-50 mixture of left and right hand versions of the molecule. Molecules can have the same formula but be arranged differently. Nature makes the left hand version of molecules. Nature has no pathways to break down the right hand version. There are no enzymes for right-handed molecules. By definition half of medication is a toxic substance. The right hand version of sodium divalporic acid gets sent to the liver, then the kidney, then the pancreas and finally fat storage because it can’t do anything else with it. If we are lucky to be obese then our brain is spared storing the toxic component of medication in its fat.
3) Medications have a sodium or sulfur atom added to them so they can be patented. Natural substances can’t be patented. They are adulterated so they can be marketed as a wonder drug. Valporic acid can’t be patented. Sodium divalporic acid can be. Our receptors have no experience with these artificial compounds. They take more energy to figure out how to break them down. This makes our receptors have to work even harder to get anything redeeming from medication. All this biochemical work our body has to do to deal with medication comes at time when we need all the energy we can to rebuild our brain and heal.
Natural treatments confound conventional scientists. How could an adaptogenic herb increase, lower or do nothing to a hormone level based on what we need at that moment? Our receptors are singing to the molecular world for a beautiful compliment to their song. Say along comes the melody of ashwaganda and then they interface. Some notes get magnified and some get drown out depending on how the rhythms line up. You have two sets of rhythms and notes interfacing: our current state and ashwaganda’s. I hope this clear that this is no linear relationship. Chemical A is not fixing a chemical A deficiency. When we heal we come into better tune.. How much more beautiful does this molecule enhance our receptor's song?
Insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result. Our current medicating of the mentally ill is insane. They are not healing. They are degenerating. They have the highest long-term disability rates and they die four times as soon. To tell someone they are insane without offering to help him or her see their patterns of insanity is also insane. We are in this together. Our current psychiatric meds should only be used for a very short period of time if at all. These medications are so singularly designed that they come with heavy toxic baggage. No one should live with the cacophony medications bring to our molecular world. It is a very adolescent way to treat people. In the most general sense, Nature/God produces the embodiment of beauty in molecular form. Yes, there are things that can kill you in Nature. However, true healing comes from an intimate relationship with our nature. Our nature heals best through molecules that resonate with our natural design. Could it be that the more Natural our relationship with the world, the more self-balancing it is? This would imply a profound intelligence or spirit lurking within our design and all of Nature’s design. I choose to live in this world.
